For the love of sport

I have really started to enjoy watching cycling recently for some reason. Perhaps it's because I've taken up the sport myself in recent years, or maybe it's the influence of the new Netflix series. But, more than anything, it's been incredibly inspiring to watch two of the world's best cyclists, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, push each other to new heights with smiles on their faces.

These two athletes have reignited my love for cycling. Their enthusiasm and sportsmanship are evident in every race, and it's clear they ride because they genuinely love the sport. This passion was particularly evident during stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia.

Giulio Pellizzari of Team Bardiani-CSF was on the brink of victory, with the finish line just ahead. But in the final kilometre, Tadej Pogacar effortlessly overtook him. Instead of feeling defeated, Pellizzari approached Pogacar to congratulate him, Pogacar responded by handing over his pink sunglasses and jersey—a true display of sportsmanship.

Maybe something we can learn from these guys is not just to do it for the win, but do it for the love of the sport.
